Young Township is a township of the second class that was established in 1826 and named for the pioneer judge of Westmoreland County, Honorable John Young. It is 15.5 square miles with a census of 1800 people and encompasses 3 sides of Punxutawney Borough.

According to the 2000 Census 520 families call Young Township their home.
